OUT OF NOWHERE KITCHEN
Out of Nowhere Kitchen Inc. began operating in October 2016 within a dormitory building in Brgy. Alfonso Anglionto, Lanang, Davao City. Originally conceived as a casual dining spot, the concept evolved into a full-fledged restaurant due to popular demand. The entire structure, from rooms to fixtures, and even the interior design, was meticulously crafted in a DIY fashion by the owners. Artistic elements like murals were hand-painted by a local artist hired specifically for the project.
The restaurant’s name, Out of Nowhere Kitchen, reflects its unconventional location, which was initially perceived as remote and hard to find. It symbolizes the owners’ vision to offer a distinctive dining experience with a diverse menu and a welcoming ambiance, where management brainstorm ideas “out of nowhere.”
Founded by Teddy Yu Tan, who specializes in marketing and construction, and Razel Ann Suy-Tan, an entrepreneur with a culinary background, Out of Nowhere Kitchen benefits from a skilled team spanning various disciplines. Due to positive feedback and increasing demand, Out of Nowhere Kitchen has expanded to encompass 12 branches in various cities and launched a new venture called Tonala by Out of Nowhere, specializing in Mexican cuisine; further planning additional expansions in Luzon and Mindanao regions.
The restaurant is committed to culinary diversity and inclusivity, offering a menu free from pork to accommodate guests of all backgrounds. The menu features three main categories – appetizers, main courses, and pastas – as well as baked goods, including small and large cakes, and homemade specialties.
After initially participating in bazaars to explore new markets beyond their original location, Out of Nowhere Kitchen successfully introduced new products such as sandwiches, additional beef dishes, and salads within two months. Looking ahead, the company aims to expand by establishing new branches in strategic locations across Mindanao’s major cities and by seeking potential franchisees.
